Overall length : 34-37mm Hindwing : 20-27mm Flight period : Beginning of June -end of August Status : In the early 1980s it was thought extinct. Then found in 1983 in Norfolk and at several sites in the South East Comments : The Scarce Emerald prefers well vegetated pools, as the name implies, this species is Scarce.Its also very difficult to tell apart from the more common Emerald damselfly. The only positive ID is by way the genitalia. Other indicators are it is more robust than the emerald damselfly. S1 and S2 are different on the male, but much less so on the female, the wing spots are broader(pterostigma)
