Scientific Name  :  Cordulia Anea
Overall length     :  47-55mm
Hindwing             :  31-34mm
Flight period       :   End of april - beginning of August
Status                   :   A patchy distribution Fortunatly again very near my home Hampshire.
As with the brilliant emerald wooded area aroun the ponds is a necessity
Comments           :  Slightly a duller Dragon than its counterpart the brilliant but still very                                             attractive. This dragonfly is more common than the brilliant and its quite                                       easy to observe them fighting for territory. A good way of telling them                                             Apart whilst in flight is the downy tends to usually fly with their  abdomen                                     slightly high.
