I again ventured into Scotland for a few days. I flew to Inverness airport to be greeted by my son with his motorhome for 5 days of photography.
We started off venturing for a look around the Black Isle. I particularly wanted to see and photograph Channory point lighthouse.
It was a strange landscape whist circling the coastal road of the Black Isle. that on one side was landscape as the above image, but on the other side heading back towards Inverness the scenery was predominantly oil rigs scattered along and just off the shoreline.
We drove on as the weather changed to dark grey interspersed with a shower or two and parked for the evening at whats called "THE BLACK FALLS".
This image is the top of the falls taken early on an icy day. as I almost landed in the river, sliding down the damp ice rocks.
we travelled for a few miles only stopping next at
We then moved on to to the Cairngorms to Aviemore for an evening meal and camp up overnight. The Cairngorms and Aviemore had received more snow than in recent times the road leading to the ski lift was closed, we camped right next to the closure signs , just above Loch Morlick. Fortunately in the morning the roads were reopened allowing us to continue onwards to spend a couple of days in Newtonmore.
this area is very pretty with streams and mountain backdrops, with occasional derelict farm buildings.
I was sorry to leave Newtonmore, we made a decision to travel a little further south to Dalewhinnie there were a couple of mountains my son wanted to ascend before the long drive home, the next images were right along side the A9 main road. I did not have the energy to climb the peaks so stayed allow I could tell the heathland had in the past been worked, but for what I had no idea their were a couple of small ponds and some numbered ditch type seating obviously for shooting the red grouse that were all around. auburn came from the mountains along and under the A9 road. That afternoon we drove home>
